Tag, label, note and comment
Four ways to write something down about a person or a job post, and which one to use when.
In Spanish: Tag, Etiqueta, Nota and Comentario.
What it is
All four are for writing things down, and the question is almost always which one to use. What sets them apart is what they go on and how far they reach.
| On what | Where it applies | How you write it | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tag | The person | In every job post in the workspace | Free: type a new one and it's created |
| Label | The candidate, in one job post | Only in that job post | From the workspace's label list |
| Note | The person, or the job post | Across the workspace | Free text |
| Comment | The candidate, in one stage of the job post | In that job post | Free text, with replies and feedback |
Feedback goes inside a comment: positive, neutral or negative.
What it's for
| What for | Example | |
|---|---|---|
| Tag | Something about the person that holds for any search | Native English, already interviewed, open to relocating |
| Label | What you're doing with the candidate in this job post | Finalist, contacted |
| Note on the person | What you need to know about them, whatever the search | Asked not to be contacted until 2027 |
| Note on the job post | What holds for the whole search and isn't about any candidate | The client doesn't want people from a certain competitor |
| Comment | What the team thinks of the candidate at a stage, to talk it over | Strong on the technical side, weak in English |
Where you see it
| Where it goes | Where you filter by it | |
|---|---|---|
| Tag | The person's profile, in the talent pool and in the ATS | The talent pool |
| Label | Next to the stage, on the candidate's profile. Manage labels edits the list | The ATS |
| Note | The person's Notes tab, or the one on the job post's Overview | |
| Comment | The candidate's Activity tab | Latest feedback, in the ATS |
They're all internal: the client sees none of them. What the client needs to know goes in as a consideration, which does appear in the report. Each note and comment is edited and deleted only by whoever wrote it.
What it gets mixed up with
| Mixed up with | The difference |
|---|---|
| Do not contact | It isn't a tag: it marks whoever asked not to be written to, with the reason, and warns you before adding them to a job post. See Do not contact |
| The stage | The stage says where the candidate is in the process. The label, what you're doing with them |
| A list | Groups several people by hand, to work on them together. See Talent pool |
| Activity | It's what Reclee logs on its own, like a stage change. A comment is written by someone. See Activity |
Why it works this way
Tags and labels look different and live in different places on purpose. If they looked alike, the team would use them interchangeably, and in two months neither would mean anything.
A label instead of another stage. If everything you do with a candidate were a stage, the pipeline would have columns nobody crosses, and it would stop measuring how the search is moving.
Notes and tags don't leave the workspace. They're your team's judgment about someone, not data about the person.
