Conversion, time to shortlist and time to hire
The numbers that tell how a job post is going, and where each one comes from.
In Spanish: Conversión, Time to shortlist and Time to hire.
What it is
| What it is | |
|---|---|
| Conversion | How many move from each pipeline stage to the next |
| Time to shortlist | How many business days it took the first candidate to reach Shortlist, since the job post opened |
| Time to hire | How many business days it took for the first hire, since the job post opened |
What it's for
Conversion shows where the search gets stuck: if few move from Sourced to Screening, the problem is in reaching out, not in the interviews. The times tell you whether the job post is on track with what you promised the client.
Where you see it
In the job post's Overview: the two times at the top, and conversion in the Summary tab. The biggest drop between two stages is flagged.
What it gets mixed up with
| Mixed up with | The difference |
|---|---|
| The funnel | It's the CRM's: companies by sales stage. Conversion is about a job post's candidates. See Lead and funnel |
| The longlist | It's separate from conversion: how many qualified in the runs, not how many move through the pipeline |
Why it works this way
It's counted in business days because that's how deadlines with the client are measured. A weekend in between isn't a lost week.
The first time counts. Time to shortlist looks at the first candidate who got there, because that's what the client is waiting for: to see someone. With several hires, time to hire looks at the first one.
How it's calculated
| Number | How |
|---|---|
| Conversion | The candidates who reached a stage, divided by those who reached the previous one. A candidate counts in every stage up to the one they're in, even if they were disqualified there. Withdrawn candidates don't count |
| Time to shortlist | Business days, Monday to Friday, from when the job post was first activated until the first candidate entered Shortlist |
| Time to hire | Business days from when the job post was first activated until the first candidate was moved to Hired |
Pausing and reactivating a job post doesn't restart the count: it's measured from the first time it was activated.
Conversion example: if 40 candidates reached Sourced and 10 reached Screening, conversion from Sourced to Screening is 25%.
